Released on bandcamp prior to its official release on June 30th, 'Sminiann Nine' is the first single from Gryst's forthcoming eponymously entitled album.

The title of the album and single is inspired by Gryst's short story 'New Human Adventures' which chronicles the exploits of the last humans fleeing their failing Mars colony to journey to the fabled Sminiann system.

Excerpt from 'New Human Adventures':

'As the stars shimmered above, casting a mesmerising glow upon the Martian landscape, Zarad and Nael found themselves engrossed in a conversation. Sitting on a rocky outcrop overlooking the distant red dunes, the survivors spoke in hushed tones, their voices carrying the weight of hope and uncertainty.

"Nael, have you ever wondered what lies beyond these desolate plains?" Zarad mused, her gaze fixed upon the twinkling heavens.

"You mean the Sminiann system." Nael's eyes gleamed with a mix of curiosity and trepidation. "Zarad, you always speak of Sminiann system as if it were real. But if it truly exists, what might await us? Will it be the paradise we dream of, or merely another harsh reality?"

Zarad's voice carried a glimmer of optimism, tempered by a touch of realism. "I've heard stories, Nael. Stories of lush, vibrant planets teeming with life, where the air dances with hues unseen. They say Sminiann holds the key to our survival, a sanctuary where we can rebuild what we've lost."

Nael's brow furrowed as he contemplated the possibilities. "And how do we know these stories aren't just figments of our desperate imagination? We've seen enough false hopes, Zarad, too many shattered dreams."

Zarad's gaze met Nael's, her eyes reflecting a profound determination. "I understand your doubts, Nael. But deep within me, I feel the pull of something greater. Our ancestors ventured into the unknown, pushed the boundaries of their existence. We carry their spirit within us, and it compels us to seek out the Sminiann system, to carve a new path for ourselves."

The silence that followed carried with it the weight of their shared burden. In that moment, amidst the vastness of the Martian wasteland, Zarad and Nael forged a bond—an unyielding resolve to defy the odds and journey toward a distant constellation that promised a glimmer of hope.

As they prepared to face the challenges that awaited them, their hearts echoed with the ancient whispers of forgotten tales, breathing life into their pursuit of the Sminiann system—a beacon of possibilities that would define their destinies and forever alter the course of humanity's legacy.'
